Instructions:
Scientists discovered a portal to another universe. There is no gravity, so people and things mostly float in space, but otherwise the universe seemed pretty normal. A group of explorers went to the new universe to set up a colony.
After the expedition was sent, scientists realized that they made a terrible mistake. In this new universe, all physical objects -- including people! -- explode on contact. Things you were already touching (like your clothes) are OK. But touch something new, and you are a gonner.
Mission Control is organizing an expedition to rescue any survivors and their (expensive!) equipment. In order to figure out what to look for, you are going through reports from mission robots that have been recording everything that happened. Unfortunately, nobody thought to program the robot to report whether or not things have exploded, but from the robots' reports, you can tell whether anything came into contact with anything else, in which case it's gone.
Don't leave anyone or anything behind! If the robot reports "Mary greeted Sally," don't assume they're dead. Maybe they just waved. Of course, if you read "Mary hugged Sally," you can cross them both off the list.
Mission Control is very concerned about protecting anonymity. In the reports you read, people's names have been changed randomly (so "Mary" in one report may not be the "Mary" in another), and many of the other words have similarly been randomly replaced with made-up words (again, what "blicket" means in one report may not be what it means in another).
Instruction Summary:
1) Read the reports.
2) Decide which objects and people, if any, have definitely exploded.
3) There may be more than one!
4) If there is a chance that a given person/object did not explode, don't mark them down as exploded. They will be abandoned!
5) The names of characters have been changed, and names of objects and other words have been replaced with made-up words
